The problem was – the needs and use cases for mobile users were far different than office workers. 

Mobile CRM users need something quick. They need something painless, simple, and easy to use. You can’t expect someone, constantly on the move, to spend 20 minutes inputting a lead that most of the time isn’t relevant. These larger CRM platforms are constantly struggling with adoption rates. The executive level of many field service companies institute a top-down strategy in an attempt to get their people on board, but unfortunately, the end-users experience push-back. Users will get annoyed, frustrated, and more often than not, bail on the product.

So, what’s the best Mobile CRM? What would your ultimate prospecting tool look like? 

Starting with the user’s needs – A mobile CRM should streamline your sales operation and save you time. Users want something they can easily open and close while in between meetings with potential clients. They can’t be wasting time inputting “birthdays” and addresses when they’re on the move. A mobile CRM should have an instant & straightforward capture. 10 seconds, tops. They can snap a quick pic using the mobile app and submit it before they’re out the door.


Next, price, commitment, and onboarding! CRMs have traditionally been an expensive commitment for a user. Usually require a time commitment, payment upfront, and always come with a ceiling on functions for different price levels. Simply put, it’s a nightmare. A mobile CRM is something you should try and decide later if it’s the right fit without being locked into a terrible product. On top of that – A mobile CRM should be priced to fit any type of business, especially for mobile workers. It can’t cost someone an arm & a leg while they’re in the process of growing their business. As a decision-maker, look for an affordable and flexible option.

Lastly, the actual functionality of the app – A mobile CRM should be Simple! Even at the office today, submitting a new contact requires four pages of inputting info before I get to a submit button. I can’t imagine navigating a traditional CRM on my phone while I’m visiting a prospect. The best Mobile CRM is incredibly simple. Seriously…5 buttons max. Where your leads can be captured through an image, auto-fill required information (location, phone number, contact, menu for products interested in, & Submit), and be on to the next meeting, immediately. 

But with simplicity, the best Mobile CRM  will have great functionality. Your mobile app keeps you organized and up-to-date. Features should include a list of all submitted items, a progress tracker, a Map View, and the ability to follow up directly in the mobile app. Mobile CRM users still have the same responsibilities as the office sales team, from following up to analyzing close-rates. These users on the move require access to all information and the ability to navigate their system quickly.
